Dragons burn the Lions

The Lions come up short during feast week, losing their second game of the season to nationally ranked Howard Community College Dragons 72-65. This is the Lions first conference loss of the season. You can rewatch the game on our YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3N8pYEJ3fJo

Howard's patented zone was back again for another year and it slowed down the pace of the game immensely for a Lions team that likes to push the tempo. The game was tied at 21-21 with under 7 minutes in the first half. The Lions trapped and forced a steal to a quick layup. A missed alley-oop from the Dragons gave the Lions a chance to break again and Xavier Barrow converted the three point play after being fouled on the layup. Jayse Barrett would block the next attempt from the Dragons and the Lions were running again with Alex Obase finishing at the rim to give the Lions a 28-21 lead with five and a half minutes remaining, Howard timeout. Howard would finish the half out strong, out scoring Dundalk 14-6, to give them a 35-34 lead going into halftime.

The second half stayed a one possession game for the first 6 minutes until the Dragons went on a 7-0 run to give them a 6 point lead 50-44. The Dragons lead would hover around 6-7 points until the Lions were able to make it a one possession game with a three from Barrow with 51 seconds remaining. The Lions were unable to get a stop and lost 72-65. 

The Lions were out rebounded 38-22. They also committed more fouls, 27-14 which resulted in the Dragons shooting 30-38 from the free throw line compared to the Lions who were 9-16.

Xavier Barrow led the Lions with 24 with 3 assists and 2 steals

CJ Scott recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds while also dishing out a team leading assists with 6.
