Lions defeat the Cecil Hawks 75-70
The Lions escaped a narrow defeat against the Cecil College Hawks, 75-70, to advance to 12-8 on the year.
Crazy Eights: The Lions broke away from the Hawks 8 minutes into the 1st half going on an 8-0 run to go up 18-8. The Lions would hold this 10 point cushion for a majority of the first half 27-17, 34-24 and finished the 1st half up 42-30. Jayse Barrett led the Lions at halftime with 13 points off the bench.
The Hawks stormed out of halftime on a 10-3 run to cut the game to 5, 45-40 forcing the Lions to call a timeout. The Hawks would never take the lead but were down one 69-68 with under two minutes left in the game. A hectic ending but in the end the Lions come out on top 75-70 with Shakur Smith swatting the final shot attempt out of bounds to put an exclamation point on the win.
Smith finished the game with a double-double, 11 points and a team leading 12 rebounds with 4 assist and 2 blocks
Hussain Williams led the Lions with 20 points while grabbing 7 boards
Xavier Barrow led the team with 6 assist scoring 12 while shooting 10-10 from the line
