The CCBC Dundalk Lions and the Northern Virginia Community College Nighthawks engaged in an exciting and closely contested game that ended with the CCBC Dundalk Lions losing 88-83 after a valiant effort.

Several important players had outstanding performances to lead the Lions. With an amazing 4 steals, 7 rebounds, and 18 points, #10 Andrew Molina displayed his all-around abilities. #2 Jayse Barrett contributed 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals to go along with his scoring output. #12 Charles Neverdon tallied 13 points. In addition, #1 Shakur Smith put up 11 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals, and #5 Xavier Barrow had a remarkable effort with 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists. The Lions were in the lead for most of the game, late in the second half the Lions had a 15-point lead with 8 minutes to go in the second half. But the Nighthawks mounted a strong comeback in the second half, which developed into a tight and difficult duel. With a late layup from the Nighthawks, the game was sent into overtime. The Lions headed into overtime with foul trouble which added insult to injury.

Even though the Lions gave it their all, there is room for improvement in some statistical categories. The group had trouble shooting from beyond the arc, making only 20% of their 3-point attempts (6-29). It was difficult for them to make free throws as well; they finished 11–23 overall with a 48% efficiency rate. With a final rebounding tally of 50 to 37, the Nighthawks outrebounded the Lions, making rebounding a major focal point in this loss. The Lion's bench was outscored 34 to 29. In addition, the Nighthawks won the fight in the paint, with 56 points in the paint to the Lion's  44.

The Lions showed resiliency on the court despite the difficult defeat. The Lions will need to start again and improve in a few aspects of their play, but they will likely learn from this setback and come back stronger in subsequent contests. After the heartbreaking defeat, the Lions prepare for their upcoming game against Sullivan Community College on Friday, December 15th. The start time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in North East Maryland.
