Lions fall to 6-4

The Lions fall to 6-4 on the season and lose another road game. This one was against Harford Community College Fighting Owls 87-75.

The Lions might have scored the first point of the game but they fell down 10-1 with 14:46 left in the half before the Lions called a timeout. The Owls defense was giving the Lions some problems but after the timeout Nasir Brockington was able to get a steal and an easy layup but the Owls answered with a three and the Lions struggles against the Owls defense continued. The Lions were down 15, the biggest lead for the Owls on the day, 22-7 before scoring a quick 5 points forcing Harford to call a timeout. Right out of the timeout Amear Johnson hits a three, Murray Grant gets a steal and Brockington scores a layup and just like that the Lions put up 10 straight points. After 4 minutes without scoring, Harford made a jump shot to make the score 24-20. Avion Robinson would respond with a three and then grab the rebound and push the pace and score a layup to give the Lions the lead 25-24 and the Fighting Owls take another timeout with 4 minutes left in the half. The Lions were on a 19-2 run to take the lead back. The Lions would have the final possession of the half up one 36-35. Robison would shoot a contested three that goes in and extends the Lions lead to four, 39-35 going into the half.

The Lions came out of the locker room slow, with the Fighting Owls scoring the first seven points of the half and losing the lead. At 15:41 the game was tied 49-49. Harford was in the driver's seat scoring first but Dundalk answered for 5 minutes and we were tied at 58-58 with 10:28 to go. The Owls went up 60-58 and then 62-58 after two made free throws. This was the first time in about 6 minutes either team scored back to back. The Lions down 63-60, Johnson scores a layup and then the Lions get a defensive stop and call a timeout with 8 minutes left in the game. The timeout proved to be in favor of the Fighting Owls as they scored 8 straight points and the Lions went cold for two and a half minutes not scoring again until 5:34 from an Antonio Jenkins put back, Fighting Owls lead 71-64. Jaylen Amoruso would then get a steal and a breakaway layup giving the Lions some momentum. They would score three straight baskets and cut the lead to three, 71-68 with under 4 minutes to go. The next minute would be all Fighting Owls as they extended their lead 79-70 with the Lions taking a timeout at the 2 minute mark. The Lions tried to mount a comeback with a press but the Fighting Owls would beat it giving us a final score of 87-75.

Avion Robinson led the team with 20 points.

Antonio Jenkins led the team with 8 rebounds.
