Lions start out 2-0

The Lions played in two of the games this weekend at the CCBC Mixer, the first on Saturday against Pitt Community College and Sunday against Mt. Zion Prep. The Lion's won both games 92-75 vs Pitt and 66-62 against Mt. Zion.

Pitt started the game off up five nil but the Lions were able to tie the game up at 11 with a three from Naasir Johnson. Over the next 8 minutes the Bulldogs slowly doubled up the Lions out scoring them 23-12 giving Pitt a 35-23 lead with 7:30 minutes left in the 1st half. Dundalk's Coach Taylor called a 30-second timeout here before Johnson went to the line to shoot two free throws and whatever he said worked because the Lions went on a 12-0 run to take the lead 36-35 with a little over 2 minutes left in the half. The last 2 minutes ended with the Lions out scoring the Bulldogs 7-4 to send us into halftime with a score of 43-39 Lions lead.

The second half started out with a back and forth battle as the Lions 4 point lead was cut to one with a score of 53-52 right around the 14 minute mark. Murray Grant answered the call and hit a three off of a beautiful Nasir Brockington assist. Grant then made a steal and a layup to start the Lions 16-2 run that would essentially end the game. The Lions would not let the Bulldogs back into the game. The Lions lead was cut down to 10 points twice but that was as close as it would get. The Lions biggest lead of 18 came right before the end of the game when they were up 91-73. The final score was 92-75.

Murray Grant lead the team with 21 points off the bench shooting 7-13 from the floor with 4 threes

Naasir Johnson was right behind him with 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals

Jaelen Williams had 16 points shooting 7-11 with 6 rebounds

Game two of the weekend welcomed Mt. Zion Prep into the Lion's den. The two teams kept it close for a majority of the game. Around the 12 minute mark of the 1st half Mt. Zion took a 15-14 lead and that lead was theirs for the majority of the game. The Lion's wouldn't let the Warriors break away, keeping the lead to four points at most. With 8:30 minutes left in the first half the score was 24-23 Warriors lead. The Warriors would then go on a 14-4 run to give them an 11 point lead 38-27. Jordan Foster closed the gap finishing the half making a three and a layup to cut the Warriors lead to six, 38-32 at half.

The Lions came out of half time firing going on an 8-2 run to tie the game up at 40-40. Mt. Zion answered by scoring back to back threes and the Lion's were back to playing catch up again. Mt. Zion would then go on a 12-3 run to put the Lions down 11 once again, 58-47. Basketball is a game of runs and Dundalk answered immediately with a 12-2 run of their own and just like that they were down by one point with 2:30 minutes left in the game 60-59. With 1:29 left in the game Naasir Johnson tied the game up with a layup 62-62. The Lions press forced a bad pass that went out of bounds, Lion's ball. Johnson then made a jump shot and put the Lions up two. Mt. Zion then committed an offensive foul with under 30 seconds left turning the ball over and sending the Lions to the line. Mt. Zion would try to force some threes but nothing would fall for them and your CCBC Dundalk Lions are 2-0 after a 66-62 win at home.

Naasir Johnson led the team with 21 points shooting 9-13

Jayson Mouzon and Jordan Foster both had 10 points, Foster also led the team in rebounds with 6
