CCBC Dundalk Drops Doubleheader to Allegany College of Maryland
by Tyriq D. Smith
The CCBC Dundalk baseball team came up short in both games of a doubleheader against Allegany College of Maryland on April 12, falling by scores of 12-2 and 9-1. Despite flashes of promise, the Lions struggled to contain Allegany's offense and couldn't generate enough momentum at the plate to mount a serious challenge in either matchup.
Game 1 Recap
The opening game began with competitive energy from both teams, but Allegany quickly seized control and never looked back. CCBC Dundalk managed to strike first, plating a run in the top of the first inning after Coreem Wright reached base and later scored. Unfortunately, that early spark was short-lived. The Lions were held to just four more hits over the final five innings, and despite a few quality at-bats, they were unable to build any offensive rhythm. The team finished with six strikeouts and struggled to capitalize with runners on base.
Coreem Wright remained a standout for Dundalk, contributing both of the team's runs and adding a hit and two stolen bases to his stat line. Carter Costango provided Dundalk's only RBI of the game, while Ryan Kennedy, Ethan Earley, and JP Morales each chipped in with a single hit.
On the mound, Jeremy Tirschman (1-7) took the loss, giving up 10 runs (six earned) over 4.1 innings. Though he battled through traffic and recorded a strikeout, Allegany's offense found consistent success, tallying 11 hits against him. Kaleb Weeks entered in relief, surrendering two more runs across 1.1 innings of work. By then, the game was well out of reach, with Allegany cruising to a 12-2 final.
Game 2 Recap
Game two followed a similar script, with Allegany setting the tone early by scoring two runs in the first inning and steadily pulling away. They added runs in the third, fourth, and sixth innings, putting pressure on Dundalk's pitching and keeping the Lions off balance.
Dundalk's offense remained mostly quiet, managing just one run in the top of the seventh inning. That lone score came after Josh Easley delivered an RBI single in a late-game rally attempt. Easley was one of the offensive bright spots, going 2-for-3 with a double and the team's only RBI. JP Morales also posted a multi-hit game, including a double, while Ethan Earley added two hits of his own. Despite those efforts, the Lions left too many opportunities on the table.
Starting pitcher Ricky Montelongo (1-3) took the loss, allowing seven runs—only three of which were earned over five innings. He struck out six but couldn't fully overcome Allegany's steady offensive attack. Costango came in to pitch the final inning, giving up two more runs on a hit and two walks.
