Baseball Season Preview

The Lions Baseball season starts out with their annual trip to South Carolina on February 18th-20th, in which they will play five games in three days to start the season. All five games will be against the USC Sumter Fire Ants. Their stadium is one of the better venues the Lions will play in this season and I would encourage you to look up Riley Park.

The following weekend the Lions will have their home opener against Delaware Technical Community College on the 26th. Del Tech is an opponent the Lions often face during the regular season as well as the fall. Del Tech is not in our region and any non-region game does not affect our playoff chances. Bothe Bergen and Del Tech are in Region 19 while the Lions are in Region 20.

Sunday the 27th the Lions will host Bergen College in another double header. Bergen is north of Newark but they play Anne Arundel Community College the day before. We look forward to seeing some new faces of the Bulldogs in the Lion's den.

In total there's 9 games, 4 at home and 5 away with 3 total opponents to kickoff February baseball.

March is jam packed with 18 games. March 1st comes on Tuesday, with a double header at Harford Community College. Harford is one of the few schools in MD that has a turf field.

The Lions will then take a short trip to Arnold, MD to play Anne Arundel Community College in a double header on Saturday the 5th. The first two games of conference play. Continuing with conference play the Lions will head to Montgomery College for a double header on Thursday March 12th starting at noon. The Lions will get one day off and then on the road to Cecil to continue playing conference games on Saturday. The Lions finish off the weekend hosting Delaware Tech for a double header on Sunday. The Lions played two games at Del Tech back in February. Delaware is not included in Region 20 and therefore not in conference.

The Lions will get back to conference play with a home and away series with CCBC Catonsville with the first game on Tuesday, March 15th at Catonsville. The second will be in Dundalk on Thursday the 17th. Both games are set to start at 3:30. The Lions will get Friday off before coming back to the Den for some conference games on Saturday with a double header against College of Southern Maryland.

As March comes to an end the Lions will travel to Prince George's Community College on Thursday the 24th for a double header that starts at 2:00 pm. March ends with a homestand against Garrett College on Sunday the 27th starting at noon for some conference play.

April is scheduled to have 7 double headers, 4 at home and 3 away with 4 conference opponents and every series is scheduled to start at noon. April starts off with two conference opponents, the first at CCBC Essex on Saturday, April 2nd followed by Allegany College of Maryland a week later in Dundalk. After hosting on Saturday, the Lions will travel on Sunday to face Hagerstown, the reigning D1 champions.

Wednesday the 13th the Lions will start their last string of home games for the season. Their game on the 13th will be against Scotland Campus, A private institution 40 minutes north of Hagerstown over the PA border. Saturday the 16th the Lions will host their last home conference series against Chesapeake College, Last years #1 seed and runner up of the playoffs. The last home game of the season for the Lions will be against Delaware County Community College one week later on Saturday the 23rd. The Lions regular season will finish that weekend as they travel to the Region 20 DII Champions Frederick Community College on Sunday.
