Women's Basketball 2016-17 Schedule Release

CCBC Dundalk women's basketball enters the 2016-17 season optimistic and upbeat, after not participating last season.

First year head coach Rick Armijo will be at the helm and is focused on fielding a team that makes Lions' fans proud to watch.

"The Lady Lions are excited that we will be able to compete this season," Armijo said. "Our main goal this season is to re-establish a respectable and competitive program at CCBC Dundalk. We are very young and lack some depth, but we are excited to be fielding a team.

"As a first year college basketball coach, I anticipate some challenges, but I have an enthusiastic and energetic coaching staff that is committed. We have a great group of young ladies that are willing to work hard and that's all we can ask for heading into the season."

The Lions will be on the road to open the season against Rowan College at Burlington County (Pemberton, N.J.) on Nov. 5.

Their home and Maryland Juco Athletic Conference opener is on Nov. 16 against Anne Arundel Community College.

Conference plays continues the following week with a trip to CCBC Catonsville (Nov. 22) before heading up to Niagara County Community College (Sanborn, N.Y.) for the Thunderwolves Tournament, Nov. 26-27.

CCBC Dundalk remains on the road to play Garrett College (Nov. 30) and Chesapeake College (Dec. 6), then comes home Dec. 8 to host Hagerstown Community College.

The Lions next home game – and bulk of its conference schedule – is not until after winter break, as they play five-of-eight January games at The Den.

On Jan. 7, CCBC Dundalk plays at Frederick Community College, hosts Cecil College (Jan. 11) and Montgomery College (Jan. 14), and then travels to Bel Air, Md. for a tip with Harford Community College (Jan. 18).

Prince George's Community College comes to Dundalk on Jan. 21, prior to the Lions hosting Allegany College of Maryland (Jan. 25) and Baltimore City Community College (Jan. 28).

The month ends with a contest at College of Southern Maryland on Jan. 31.

February begins with Potomac State College of West Virginia (Keyser, W.Va.) at home and Howard Community College on the road, Feb. 2 and 4, respectively.

The Maryland Juco Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Tournament is Feb. 17-19, hosted by Chesapeake College.

The NJCAA Region XX Division II Women's Basketball Tournament will be held March 10-12 at Howard Community College.
