COVID-19: CCBC Intercollegiate Athletics Program and Recreational Facility Use Reductions

CCBC Intercollegiate Athletics
COVID-19 Response Plan for
Program, Recreational and Athletic Facility Use

March 17-May 31, 2020

UPDATED April 30, 2020

Based upon the rapid COVID-19 response, CCBC Athletics has identified a number of actions necessary to ensure the health and safety of our students, student-athletes, coaches and staff, constituents, spectators and community.

We have tremendous sympathy for the hardships the following changes may create for our student-athletes, coaches and staff, and all those who love the Cardinals, Knights, Lions, and their student-athletes. Maintaining public health is our top priority and our primary decision-making criteria for these actions.

CCBC has already announced its plan to suspend classes from March 17 to March 30, 2020 and move to alternative teaching methods from March 30 to the end of the spring semester 2020. Spring recess has been moved from April 6-13, 2020 to March 23-27, 2020. CCBC and its offices will be closed for spring recess.

With the understanding that the scope of impact on CCBC may broaden, CCBC Athletics is instituting the following policies:

  • Effective at 7 p.m. March 16, 2020, all intercollegiate athletic team activities and related athletic support services are suspended through Sunday, March 29, 2020.
  • Effective immediately, all other previously approved recreational facility use (rentals, BCRP, BCPS, campus groups, community groups, etc.) have been cancelled through May 31, 2020.
  • After 7 p.m. March 16, 2020, there is not any authorized use of our recreational facilities through at the least May 31, 2020.
  • The NJCAA has cancelled all winter championships and spring sports.
  • Our department is operating on a very limited telework basis through May 31, 2020.
