Cleveland "Coach Rudy" Rudisill Lions Alumni Game

Dundalk, Md. -- As a men's basketball student-athlete, coach, and athletics specialist, Cleveland Rudisill was part of the fabric that is CCBC Athletics. Sadly, on Sunday, May 26, 2019, the beloved "Coach Rudy" passed away. He was 65.

Each year, the CCBC Dundalk Men's Basketball pre-season is highlighted by a scrimmage against the Lions' alumni. For the past several years, Coach Rudisill has returned to coach the alumni team.

In remembrance of Coach Rudy, we are honored to announce that this game will now be known as the "Cleveland 'Coach Rudy' Rudisill Lions Alumni Game." We hope very much that this game will be an annual reminder of his impact on our intercollegiate athletics program.

Coach Rudy was inducted into the inaugural CCBC Athletics Hall of Fame class in 2011. As a men's basketball student-athlete at CCBC Essex (1973-1975), he led the Knights to back-to-back 20+ win seasons, earning All-Maryland Juco Conference honors for the 1974-1975 campaign.

He would go on to star at the University of Baltimore, where he earned All-Mason Dixon Conference honors, and played professional basketball in the European League for nine years with four teams in Luxembourg and France.

Coach Rudy returned to CCBC in 2000 and spent four seasons as an assistant men's basketball coach at Essex. In 2005, he became the head men's basketball coach at CCBC Dundalk where he led the Lions for eight seasons. Coach Rudy also spent his days at CCBC Dundalk working as an Athletic and Wellness Technician until he retired in 2018.
