Lions vs. Trojans Recap

by Dylan Motta

DUNDALK, MD - On Friday, January 25 the Allegany College of Maryland Trojans (Cumberland, Md.) came into Dundalk looking for their fourth straight win. They were denied. Dundalk started off hot with a 8-0 run to open the game. However, Allegany's Davon Floyd brought them back with a few early buckets, and finished the night with 20 points.

Dundalk had the game under control until Allegany's Demarcus Demonia came back in the game after getting into foul trouble early. Demonia carried the team during a 13-0 run. At 6'7", Demonia gave the Lions trouble, finishing with 28 points and 14 boards. Dundalk managed to pull together after getting back-to-back steals with a little over two minutes before halftime.

Down 42-34 at halftime, Dundalk looked fatigued. Most of Dundalk's offense appeared to be coming from Christion Wright (Woodlawn) who finished with 14 points and point leader KeiJuan Major (Indian River) with 15 points for the night.

Both teams came out for the second half energized and exchanged a few fouls. Dundalk went on an 11-3 run to tie the game at 51. Demonia would once again come up big for Allegany with an and 1 that got their bench energized. But the Lions answered right back with a wide open three pointer from Breon Williams (Parkville). Williams would get another three pointer a few possessions later.  With five minutes left in the game, Dundalk was up by only five points. However, down the stretch, the Lions broke away to have a game high 12 point lead before the 82-74 win.

The Dundalk Lions will look for a repeat performance when they host the Northern Virginia Community College Nighthawks (Annandale, Va.) on Thursday January 31 at 7 p.m.
