CCBC Dundalk Lions Men's Basketball Mixer Recap

DUNDALK, MD - In his 1984 hit Basketball, Kurtis Blow sang "…they're playing basketball, we love that basketball…" and that was certainly the case November 2-4 as the CCBC Dundalk Lions officially opened its season with a men's basketball mixer.

Three days; seven teams; nine games.

The Cecil College Seahawks (North East, Md.) began the weekend's contests on Friday with a 4 p.m. tipoff against the Bryant and Stratton Bobcats (Virginia Beach, Va.). The Seahawks came out on top 86-78.

The Lansing Community College Stars (Lansing, Mich.) clipped the College of Southern Maryland Hawks (La Plata, Md.) 76-71 in game two of the night.

The ASA Avengers (Brooklyn, N.Y.) got the best of the Lions 68-61 to close out the evening.

In game five of the weekend's matchups, Bryant and Stratton played the role of home team to the College of Southern Maryland. The Bobcats came out on the short end as the Hawks came out on top 86-77.

In the closest matchup of the mixer, just three points separated the teams in Saturday's final game as ASA edged out the Pitt Community College Bulldogs (Greenville, N. C.) 68-65.

In Sunday's first game, ASA pulled off its third win while handing Cecil their second loss of the tourney, 82-77.

Pitt came out on top against the College of Southern Maryland, 92-86, in the weekend's highest scoring contest.

CCBC Dundalk fell to 1-2 as they dropped the last contest of the mixer, 70-61, to Bryant and Stratton.

The Lions (1-2) play their next home game tonight, as they host Montgomery College (0-0) in the Raptors' season opener.
