Lions clip Cards in back-and-forth nailbiter

Catonsville, Md. - On Wednesday, April 24th the Lions traveled to CCBC Catonsville and won 13-11. This wraps up this seasons series at 1-1. The first game was in Dundalk and the Cardinals won 9-6.

There was more than enough offense to go around for the Lions. Seven players recorded a hit and all nine made it on base.

It started out in the first inning when an error and two singles by Charles Lebron and Bryant Gutierrez loaded the bases with one out. Aarron Rodriguez doubled to score two. Andy Duarte put the ball in play and an error let him reach first and score one. Lions up 3-0 after the top of the first.

In the bottom of the first Catonsville answered with four runs of their own making it 4-3 Catonsville.

In the top of the second the Lions kept it rolling with Chris Dockins hitting a lead off single, Kaleb Whitlock drew a walk and Ivan Martinez singled to load the bases. Ethan Alioto hit a single to score one and keep the bases loaded. Charles Lebron followed up by hitting double into right field to score two and leave Alioto at third. Aarron Rodriguez hit a Sac Fly to make the Lions lead 7-4.

Brent Kline answered by striking out the side in the bottom of the second.

By the end of the sixth the Cardinals were up 10-7.

In the top of the seventh Aarron Rodriguez lead off with a double. An error by the third baseman let JAck Brack reach first safely and move Rodriguez to third safely. Chris Dockins hit a double of his own to score them bothe making it 10-9 going into the bottom of the seventh.

In the top of the eighth Ivan Martinez lead off with a walk, Ethan Alioto hit a single and charles Lebron hit a single to score Martinez. Aarron Rodriguez put the ball in play and a failed double play attempt let Rodriguez make it to second and score two. Andy Duarte hit a single to score Rodriguez. Lions Lead 13-10.

In the bottom of the eighth the Cardinals scored one but in the ninth Joe Rubalcaba came in and got the save.

The Lions next game will be a Double header at Garrett College Saturday, April 27th. First pitch is noon.
