Lions at 5-10, beat Cecil Seahawks 8-3

North East, Md. - On Thursday, March 28th the Lions traveled to Cecil College and won 8-3. The Lions are now 5-10 (3-4 Conference). Cecil is now 2-11-1 (1-5 Conference) and come to Dundalk on April 10th for the second game of the series.

In seven and two thirds innings Creed Mourey only gave up one hit and two walks while striking out 10. Mourey was in command and had four three-up, three-down innings.

The first inning started off with Ivan Martinez reaching on an error. Charles Lebron drew a walk. Then a double steal. Followed by a ground ball to score one. Lions up 1-0.

In the third Charles Lebron tripled. Bryant Gutierrez brought him home with a ground ball. Lions up 2-0 but Cecil answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning 2-1 Lions lead.

In the sixth inning Aaron Rodriguez lead off with a walk. Travis Buckmon then hit a home run to bring the score to 4-1. Kaleb Whitlock singled. Ivan Martinez followed up with a home run of his own increasing the lead to 5. Now 6-1 Lions up.

In the eighth inning fatigue was setting in for Mourey. He finished his appearance with 122 pitches thrown but surrendered two runs in the inning. Lions lead 6-3.

To lead off the ninth inning Bryant Gutierrez reached on an error. Chad Rawlerson was hit by a pitch. Aaron Rodriguez laid down a bunt and advanced the runners. Travis Buckmon reached on a fielder's choice and Gutierrez was out at third. So with two outs runners on first and second Jack Brack hits a two RBI double. Lions win 8-3.

Next up the Lions have a double header on Saturday, March 30th at Hagerstown Community College scheduled to start at noon.
