Slumping Lions slain by Knights in the cold rain

The CCBC Dundalk baseball team fell to CCBC Essex 7-3 on April 3 for its fourth loss in five games.
Rain wiped out the rest of the Lions' games last week, leaving Dundalk's record at 9-13.
Dundalk had nearly reached the .500 mark (8-9) after beating CCBC Catonsville 18-13 on March 27.
But the Lions then fell at Harford County, 14-3, on March 29 before splitting a doubleheader with Allegany College on March 31, losing 9-7 and winning 7-3.
Shawn Dignazio (Kenwood) pitched six innings for the win, striking out nine and walking three while giving up five hits.
Andreas Holtzer (Good Counsel) and Bryant Gutierrez (Abraham Lincoln | Queens. N.Y.) hit solo home runs for Dundalk, while Charles Lebron (Grand Street Campus | Brooklyn, N.Y.) had a two-run single.
The Lions lost at Prince George's Community College 23-3 on April 2 before hosting the Knights the next day.
The game was originally supposed to be played at CCBC Essex, but field conditions caused the game to be moved to Dundalk.
As it was, the two teams had to tolerate a steady drizzle and temperatures in the 40's.
Dundalk took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a solo home run by Holtzer, but the Knights went ahead with runs in the second and third innings, and a four-run outburst in the fifth inning.
A two-run home run by Mitch Fyffe capped the fifth inning and have the Knights a 6-1 lead.
The Lions scored two runs in the sixth to close to within 6-3. Dignazio led off the inning with a solo home run and Holtzer drew a walk, went to third on Lebron's double and scored on a sacrifice by Ethan Alioto (Catonsville).
But then Lions managed just two baserunners over the last three innings, on a walk and a hit batter.
That was Alioto, leading off the ninth inning. But Essex closer Emilio Valdez struck out the next three batters to end the game.
Dundalk struggled at the plate, finishing with four hits. The sixth was the only inning during which more than four Lions batted.
The Lions were to host Prince George's Community College on Thursday before playing a doubleheader at College of Southern Maryland on Saturday and hosting Montgomery County Community College in a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at noon.
